A beautiful set of three antique French legal volumes, published in Paris in 1898.
Traité Pratique et Formulaire Général du Notariat by Defrénois was an extensive professional reference work for French notaries, covering notarial practice, civil law and taxation in France and its territories.
This group includes Volumes 1, 2 and 4 of the seventh edition. Each is bound in wonderfully aged dark leather with raised bands and gilt lettering along the spine. More than 125 years of use have left the bindings with worn edges, rubbing and a lovely timeworn patina.
Beautiful displayed together as a stack of antique books and especially striking in a library, study or layered into a collected interior.
Paris, France, 1898
