A beautiful antique French earthenware strainer bowl, finished in a warm ochre glaze with wonderful surface wear and patina developed through generations of use. Numerous hand-pierced drainage holes extend across the base and sides, with small raised feet underneath allowing liquid to drain freely.

Traditionally used in the French kitchen for draining and food preparation, pieces like this are often referred to as passoires or égouttoirs. The underside retains a faint impressed maker’s mark, adding another lovely detail to this utilitarian piece.

A wonderful piece of old French pottery to display in a kitchen, filled with seasonal fruit, or simply enjoyed for its sculptural form and beautifully aged surface.

Antique condition with glaze wear, staining, surface marks and other signs of use consistent with age.

Dimensions: 11.5” diameter
