Antique Hand-Carved Butter Roller, 19th century

Signed Canadian Folk Art Butter Roller

A remarkable hand-carved wooden butter roller, signed “Wilson J.F. Canada.” Measuring an impressive 16” long × 5” wide, this piece was likely crafted as a decorative or ceremonial object rather than for daily use. The bold star motif and scalloped roller edge highlight the maker’s skill and artistry, transforming a humble dairy tool into a work of folk sculpture.

A rare signed example of Canadian folk carving from the early 20th century — warm patina, beautiful form, and a striking presence displayed on a shelf or peg rail.

c. 1900–1930. Signed “Wilson J.F. Canada.”
