A beautiful antique Italian earthenware pot, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Traditionally made as a utilitarian vessel for preserving foods such as sardines, anchovies or olives.

The pot has a wonderfully simple cylindrical form with two generous loop handles and a thick rolled rim, finished in a warm ochre-yellow glaze. Subtle irregularities, glaze variations and marks from generations of use give it an especially lovely time-worn appearance.

A substantial piece of old Italian pottery that displays beautifully on its own or filled with branches, utensils or dried flowers.

Sourced in Italy.

Antique condition with wear, marks and glaze variations consistent with age and use.

Dimensions: 9.5” H × 8” diameter
Circa: 1890–1920
