Early 20th Century French Enamel Maker’s Plaque – G. Sauvage, Aubervilliers

$165.00

A striking early–mid 20th century French porcelain enamel maker’s plaque from G. Sauvage, located at 40 Rue Heurtault in Aubervilliers (Seine), just outside of Paris.

Crafted in classic black lettering on a softly aged ivory enamel ground, this industrial workshop plaque would have once been mounted to machinery, cabinetry, or within a working atelier. The typography and reference to “Seine” (used prior to 1968) help date it to approximately the 1920s–1950s.

The finish shows gentle, honest wear consistent with age — the kind of patina that tells a story rather than detracts. It is a beautiful piece of authentic French industrial history, equally at home leaned on open shelving, layered into a gallery wall, or styled in a kitchen vignette among ironstone and brass.

A true collector’s piece for lovers of French décor and atelier charm.
