Vintage French Floral Still Life Oil Painting – 1943 Dedication

Vintage French Floral Still Life Oil Painting – 1943 Dedication

A beautiful original oil painting depicting a loosely arranged bouquet of delicate white, soft pink and purple daisies in a simple glass vase. Set against a rich, moody background, the flowers are brought to life through expressive brushstrokes and subtle touches of colour.

What makes this painting particularly special is the handwritten French dedication on the reverse, dated June 13, 1943. Written to a grandson named Jacques, it reads:

“To my dear grandson Jacques, when you look at these daisies, think of Grandma.”

Signed “Marguerite,” the dedication offers a touching glimpse into the painting’s past. Even more lovely is that Marguerite is the French word for daisy, the very flowers depicted in the painting.

The reverse also bears an original label from Charles Bradtke, a framing and gilding establishment in Luxembourg.

Presented in a beautifully aged silver-toned frame that complements the painting’s rich palette. A truly special piece, made all the more meaningful by the personal history it carries.
